Eclipse Aluminum

Let me explain to you, about what happened when I listened to this terrible sub. First, at a normal volume, it sounded awesome! By the way, this was in the Tweeters store, in case you didn't know. But then, at a loud volume, it sounded like the woofer was striking something. It sounded terrible! I have already been told, that it was not the voice coil that was being striked, by the woofer cone, so what was it?

I think there was a possibility that this sub was overpowered. This amp that was hooked up to it, ran I think, at 500 or 750 RMS.

it was probably bottoming out, they where pushing the subs to its full xmax so it was making the popping noise, either that or it could be the tinsel slap problem, or the dust cap was loose

Again, I've said all of this twice on this thread already, and I'm doing it a third time.

You cannot bottom out the 88 series drivers.

You cannot have a tinsel slap problem with them.

There IS no dustcap.

And there is NO valid factual evidence that taking it to Xmax will lead to any audible noise - "full Xmax" is a misnomer - it's either at Xmax or not...

I was wondering what you guys think about 1 12" Eclipse Titanium instead of 2 10" Aluminums? How would it compare in SQ and is SPL.

Also what do you think would be the best buy (by varying sub sizes, number of subs, and either 10" or 12"), but not 2 Titaniums becasue that would be 1500rms... too much for stofck alternator (all other ECLIPSE combo's though)
