eclipse 88150 dvc enclosure?

I finally have my amp cable ran and tossed my eclipse in my Honda. It sounds good, but I want a little more from it.

Currently it is in a prefab box about 1.5 sealed. Will a larger box get a little louder? Sub is a 15 inch eclipse 88150 dvc dual 4 ohm, running off a sundown sae-1000d amp, sundown's entry level amp. Car is a 2003 honda civic si hatchback.

I have room for up to 5-5.5 cubic foot box in the hatch. I can't find any spec's for a ported enclosure on this sub. All I could find was that it is not reccomended ported. Can I run this sub ported or will it destroy itself? Will a 3ish foot sealed box get louder or should I just start looking for a different sub/subs?

I was hoping for more out of this sub, maybe I'm expecting too much from a SQ sub.

I could really use a box design for this sub if someone can help me out.

I found a prefab on sonic electronix 2.63 cubes sealed for $69 with free shipping. Would that work for this sub? Should be cheaper than buying MDF, adhesive, and covering for the box. With sealed boxes I would think prefabs wouldn't be too bad.

Does anyone know anything about this sub? I'm trying to get a little more SPL out of it. I know it is more of a SQ sub, but surely I can get it a bit louder off of 600 Watts.

Maybe I should sell it and do a pair of smaller subs that can get down better.
