eclipse 8443 radio problem

i just installed my eclipse 8443 and everything works perfectly except for radio. i can very faintly hear the song on some stations but most all of them are very fuzzy. I do not have a power antenna on my car (just one that stays out) so i did not hook up the blue power antenna wire on the harness...is that the problem?
