Eclipse 5-Channel or 2 JL's

I am looking to get some thoughts on whether I should go with one amp or two.

Here is my stuff that I want to power:

- CDT 6.5 Components and Coxials for the doors (haven't purchased but leaning towards these over JL and Alpine components)

- JL Stealthbox handling 300RMS

Should I go with the Eclipse XA5000 5 Channel pushing 50x4 and 300+1 or a JL 300/4 for the doors with a JL 250/1 for the sub.

Thoughts?

Depends.

1) What is the price difference?

2) Are you going to be using the amplifier's xovers?

3) Do you see yourself upgrade the speakers or subwoofer in the near future?

If the Eclipse were cheaper, you weren't going to be using the amp's xover and you don't have any major upgrades planned....the Eclipse would be my choice. All-in-one package for easier install, very minimal differences in power, and likely a little more efficient given all channels are class D.

Problem w/ the Eclipse is if you plan to upgrade the sub or speakers to where you will want more power then you might be forced to buy 2 new amps whereas w/ the JL you would simply swap out EITHER the speaker amp OR the sub amp. [i guess you wouldn't HAVE to replace the Eclipse if you bought a new sub amp and kept the Eclipse for the highs...you would just have a wasted channel and spent $$ on something you are no longer using]

Also, the JL has selectable 12db/24db xovers, where the Eclipse is fixed at 18db. This is unfortunately a toss-up as we don't know what xover slopes you will need for you install. 18db might be perfect, it might not. But the JL offers a little more flexibility here. In all reality though; If you just want a good sounding daily driver and not sonic perfection.....this difference is likely of little consequence and not a major consideration.

If the JL's were cheaper and/or you plan on upgrading soon and/or you really want the adjustable slopes....go for them.

Squeak has good feedback, but it seems that if you are buying a Stealthbox, you have your mind made up as far as not upgrading your subs any time soon.

Two amps are typically more work than one, twice the odds of something going wrong, more wiring issues, etc.

The Eclipse is a nice footprint and pretty good power output. I know for similar money a JBL can be had (a 6 channel) but I would say a 6/5 channel is the way to go if you have already locked in your sub choice.
