Will you be participating? I know I will. I'll have every light and electrical appliance on in my apartment. I may even let my truck idle during Earth Hour.

Regardless of whether global warming is real or not, I have 2 problems with earth hour.
1) It starts at 8:30 ... WTF ? Why start a half hour into an hour ? You immediately lose anyone who plans on watching a 1-hour drama that starts at 8 PM (which many do).

2) Websites like Google change their colour schemes to black for the day, which doesn't help given LCD screens consume more power displaying black compared to white. It'll help if you use a dinosaur monitor, but trading that in for an LCD monitor would help more.

3) Even if every single person on the planet participated (which only a small percentage will), it will not make any impact whatsoever other than to reduce our annual power consumption by 1/(24*365.25) or 0.0114%. Assuming those responsible for 1% of the annual power consumption shut their power off completely for that 1 hour (which is being really fvcking generous), that's still only a 0.000114% reduction in annual power consumption.

4) They're printing off flyers, taking out advertising space, etc. to promote Earth Hour which is consuming just as much, if not more, energy and resources than they will save during Earth Hour.

5) This is just to make those d0uchebag hypocrite hippies feel like they've made a difference when, in actuality, they've accomplished absolutely nothing other than inconveniencing those stupid enough to fall for their bullshit propaganda.

All 3 TV's in my house are on, heater is at 72*, garage lights are on, 220 breaker is on, all my outside lights and the oven...

I hate whole foods here. More so the people. They panic stop from 45 to 5 to turn into the drive way. Shit is so annoying. Its always a ****ing preius who's staring down my truck as they turn.
