Yes, it's permanent. No, you don't need to wait for it to dry or anything.

How long it takes you depends on how long it takes you to prep your trunk (removing panels/carpet, cleaning the surfaces by dusting off dirt, removing grease and such), and how quickly you work.

I'm a slow-*** sound deadener, so it would probably take me atleast the better part of a Saturday afternoon to deaden a trunk.

You'll want to apply it directly to the metal of your trunk, behind the carpet and panels.

If there are some panels inside the trunk vibrating, you can apply it to the backside of the panels aswell.
