dvd navigation dose it need disk to work?

just like the title states i was offered a 2 din with navi but the navi dvd is not with it. dose the dvd have the maps on it or just the points of interest? can any one help thanks

i know on my d3 you must have the disc in for the navigation to work.

You can input your destination and then eject the disc however and it switches to memory nav mode.

I think there might be a couple of navi units now that use usb ports or sd?

yeah that would help. its a eclipse avn20d it dont have the HDD in it

if its free or a cheap price for it take it you can find a nav cd online i am sure

that or just buy the headunit from circuit city or somewhere and get the cd and return the headunit back they wont even realize the cd is gone haha

the kenwood i have is garmin based and uses a separate module that doesnt requre a dvd.

and ive been lookin and couldnt find that only the 100 dollar one and 250 or sumthing like that. thanks bro
