dvc wiring question

i was wondering i have a dvc sub and i want to hook up two amps to it one to each coil but i want to make sure that i dont blow so if i give each coil 500 watts rms does this mean im giving the sub 1000 total watts rms?? idk it might be a dumb question but i would hate to blow my sub.

Yes. If you give each coil 500w then your sub is seeing 1000w
