Dustcap replacement. how do I cut off the old? AQ

On my SDC 2.5 one of the dustcaps got punched in, so I emailed DJ and we all know hes cool as shit and he sent me some for FREE.

Here is the broken cap

But he sent me all of these, is this 4 dustcaps or do you need 2 for each sub for some reason? The plain black ones are bigger than the AQ logo'd ones

What a nice guy though, I only asked if I could get one replacement.

I dont really get were exactly you need to cut with a razor blade to get the old cap off, never done it before

And Im gonna try and do it with the sub still installed in my wall, I installed the subs with specialty screws for theft reasons, and I lost the bit that came with them lol, and I dont feel like drilling them out

Not even I can steal my own ish lol

Although I use ca glue and have been instructed to by DJ with the stiffening disk in place(which you will see when you take off the old one) I'm willing to bet silicone would work fine. The cap shouldnt really see any back pressure.

Yea dont come to a car audio forum where people can ask questions for help to ask a question about car audio to help you out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

You don't want to peel the old dust cap off of the cone. Use a razor knife and cut the cap off leaving all of the outer 1/2" part of the old dust cap glued to the cone. Glue the new cap on top of the remaining outer 1/2" of the old cap.

I need to talk to the guys in the shop they were instructed to send only one dust cap. The blank dust caps fit the HD3.

Well I dont mind giving some extra cash via paypal if youd like now that I aparently got 4

I wasnt talking about using silicone to hold the cap in place, the subs seam to have a smoothed out bead of black silicone around the dust cap from the factory

if you dare make a new thread about putting a new dust cap on, it will be deleted.
I never made a thread about putting a dustcap on or how to remove the old one, I made a thread last time on how I could possibly fix the broken one. Now that I have multiple new ones, I needed some advice.

God forbid people actually help people with car audio in these forums:eek://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif:eek:
