sorry for the dumb question but I want to make sure,

when i had my system installed the shop i went to used 8 gauge wire instead of what was supposed to be 4 gauge, but since they already did it i just got my money back and forgot about it. but now i have run into some 4 gauge wire and was wondering if i could just take out my old (8 gauge) wire and replace it with the 4 gauge? or is there something else i will need to do?

sorry for the ? but ive never installed anything in cars

yes, just replace it... but make sure to replace the ground wire with 4 gauge as well... what's the inline fuse on the 8 gauge rated at?

well my friend that im getting it from has it in his car that just broke down and said i could go take his wire if i wanted it, so im guessing he must have the 4 gauge ground wire since he had a system right? and im not to sure what the inline fuse is rated at

if he doesnt i have some extra 1-1.5ft of 4ga wire, just pay for shipping and paypal fees, and 1$ for gas to the post office. there's alreayd a terminal attached to the otehr end too.

well i went and got it but im not sure where i would find the ground wire. he has a piece of the same 4 gauge screwed onto a piece of metal in the trunk that is just hanging there, would this be it??

yes, that would be the ground... and find out what your fuse is rated at, i believe the last time i ran 4 gauge the fuse was 80 amps... very important, the old 8 gauge fuse may be lower, like 40 and this will be bad...

follow your power wire till you hit this thing covered in a plastic casing. should be under your hood (if only 1 power wire straight to 1 amp), or somewhere in your trunk, connected to your power wire
