dumb question

Sure, just cut some spare wood and secure it inside the box. So, you need .3cuft worth of wood placed (and secured) inside the box to reduce the volume down to .6cuft.

However, remember to take sub displacement into account. So, if you have a box that is .9cuft gross, and a sub that has a displacement of .1cuft, then you only need to place .2cuft of wood into the box to arrive at a net volume of .6cuft.

just a lil wood at a time??
Yup. Sit down with a calculator and figure out how much wood you will need to place inside. Then cut the wood into sections that will fit, and secure them in there. Be sure not to build it up on the backside of the box, and cause the rear wall to be too close to the rear of the sub(s).
