Dumb question:Chop job on coaxials to make comps

one the mids in my rev 6x8's is blown and i cant sell them so i was wondering if i could remove both the tweeters and the crossover and then get some aa poly mids and use it as a cheap comp set. Dont flame me im just trying to make use of everything i have

Theoretically you could, assuming the tweeter isn't one of those cheap-*** passive 'super tweeters'. But.... ewwwww

it comes with a crossover that i think i could modify and use and it isnt a supertweeter and they sound pretty good. I just have them sitting around and have no use for them

It's not doing you any good in it's current state. Pull that tweeter and Xover out and try it. Worst that can happen is it sounds bad and you get new tweeter and Xovers to go with the AA Poly mids like you'd have to do otherwise.

It'll probably sound very bright and harsh considering most coaxial tweets are designed for off-axis response. I wouldn't waste my time personally...
