Dual 2 or Dual 4 ohm????!

well seeing as if i'm reading what you post for your system setup correctly you have the jbl1200.1 that amp is 1 ohm and 2 ohm mono stable. won't put out any different amount of power but will work fine at both ohm loads. so honestly either setup you go with will work totally fine.

dual 4 ohm subs wired in parallel get you a 1 ohm load when you have 2 of them, and a 4 ohm load in series. now dual 2 ohm subs wired in parallel get you a .5 ohm load and in series then parallel get you a 2 ohm load.

that's right, but, if you haven't bought them yet, just get the 2ohm dvc so you can run the amp at 2ohms, b/c you really don't have anything to gain by running it at 1ohm, and you will need to keep an eye (or a fan) on it if it starts getting hot

(2) 2 ohm DVC subs

parallel = 2 ohms

series = 0.5 ohms

(2) 4 ohm DVC subs

parallel = 4 ohms

series = 1 ohm

edit = these impedences are for 2 (two) subs

hey ace next time you try and correct someone don't correct an already correct answer for ohm load setups please. parallel cut's your ohm load in half my friend, series double's it. therefore

2ohm DVC for 1 woofer=

parallel- 1ohm load

series- 4 ohm load

2ohm dvc for 2 woofer's=

parallel-.5 ohm load

series- 8 ohm load

series parallel, parallel series- 2 ohm load

4 ohm dvc for 1 woofer=

parallel- 2 ohm load

series- 8 ohm load

4 ohm dvc for 2 woofer's=

parallel- 1 ohm load

series- 16 ohm load

series parallel, parallel series- 4 ohms

now although you can run subs in series parallel it is not recommended.

see i figured you would get confuse with that. honeslty i dont remember why i just remember having a discussion about wireing subs and all that last night with a guy who is on this forum and knows his stuff rather well. he told me don't do it couldn't remember why. sorry maybe someone else will know though.

I corrected you because you were wrong. Check the facts before you make accusations.

Read the series/parallel impedence section at http://www.eatel.net/~amptech/elecdisc/caraudio.htm.

There is also a Woofer WiringWizard at http://www.rockfordfosgate.com, that will do the calculations for you.

Originally posted by Speedracer7ci'm so confused right now.....is there any diagrams out there that can show me the wiring. For 2 2ohm DVC subs running at 2 ohms?

ok when you say a dual 4 ohm sub wired in series get's you a 2 ohm load and in prallel get's you a 8 ohm load you are completly backwards in that. parallel cuts the ohm load in half series doubles the ohm load. i went on RF and checked up on the diagram's b/c i didn't know how to wire a sub in series before today.

I didn't say anything about wiring "a" (one) sub, I said for 2 (two):

for calculating parallel, you divide resistance of the sub by the number of subs you have...that will give you the impedence for an svc, for dvc, double that number

checkout that site, it will make everything clear

http://www.eatel.net/~amptech/elecdisc/caraudio.htm

(parallel/series impedence)
