Dual 2 Ohm+Single 4 Ohm=???

Why wouldn't it be possible?

While it is true mismatching speakers isn't generally a good idea for a multitude of reasons if that's all you have to work with then why not try it?

You could wire the DVC driver to a 4 Ohm load so both subs would be seeing the same power....and as long as they're in an appropriate enclosure or enclosures...

Ghetto?

Probably.

Possible?

Why not?

Don't do it. What speakers and why are you trying to do this?
well this is what happened. I was inside the gas station today and it was a guy that had this pretty loud system shaking everything in the store so when I walked out I seen him parked on the side with a few people surrounding him checking it out. Well I go and take a look myself and suprisingly it was a pair of 15" Planet Audios. He had a memphis amp on it. I asked him if he wanted to let em go and he said yea because he's been trying to downgrade since it was too much for him. He told me they were both dual 4 ohm so I had just took his word, got the subs, paid him and left. Well when I got home and took them out the box to make sure they were hooked up properly I wasn't paying attention and I had just snatched the wires out the coil since I had already made up my mind to re wire them all over anyway. Thats when I found out the true voice coil configs and I'm trying to figure out how he had them hooked up so I can use this system temporarily.

Oh! They're the same model subs but different VC configurations?

Then the T/S parameters ought to be similar enough to not pose any problems then.

You'll want to wire the DVC sub in series like so:

Then wire the DVC sub to the SVC sub in parallel (positives together to the amp's positive output and likewise with the negatives) to make an overall 2 Ohm load with each sub being a 4 Ohm load individually so they'll see the same wattage from the amp.

they're the same subs other than vc config? Should be perfectly fine. Other than yourself, and the few people that have read this - no one will know the difference anyway.

(unless they're inverted or in a plexi box, I guess)
