Dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm?

Im considering getting (two) 12 inch Cerwin Vega Strokers. I noticed there are two different ones, one with dual 2 ohm and one with dual 4 ohm. Is there an advantage to getting the 2 ohm one, wiring it with 1 ohm and getting more power, or is it better to get the dual 4 ohm and wiring it to 2 ohms.

Thanks,

-Jeff

Dual 2 can be wired to 2 or 8 ohm loadsDual 4 can be wired 1 or 4 ohm load
Thats wrong Hes talkin of Single sub setups . but if im wrong i listed both single and dual sub

Single Sub Setups:

Dual 2 : 1 ohm , 4 ohm

Dual 4: 2 ohm , 8 ohm

Dual Sub Setups

Dual 2: .5 ohm, 2 ohm , 8 ohm

Dual 4: 1 ohm. 4 ohm

EDIT: DB_Drag_SPL was right

A quick example of this:

Two 4-Ohm drivers will be looking for an amp that is capable of a given power output @ 1- or 4-Ohms.

Four 4-Ohm drivers will be looking for an amp that is capable of a given power output @ 2- or 8-Ohms.

Hope you can understand it.

I would do the Dual 2-Ohm as it will probably be easier to find an amp that does that kind of power at 2-Ohms rather than 4-Ohms efficiently.

Again, it's dependant upon how many amps/subs and what kind of amp(s) you plan to use //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Sorry for the confusion. I do plan on hooking up (two) 12inch subs to (one) amplifier. I have basically no knowledge on these ohms and they confuse the crap out of me.

So if im getting this right, you are saying:

if i have (two) dual 2 ohm subs i will get 2 ohms or 8 ohms?

if i have (two) dual 4 ohm subs i will get 1 or 4 ohms?

i dont know im getting confused again, haha.

So (two) dual 4 ohm subs hooked up to one amp, or (two) dual 2 ohm subs hooked up to one amp. would it be better going with the lower ohms, like 1 ohm, or something higher like 2 or 4?

sorry for confusing people, im confusing myself in this whole mess and im trying to get it sorted out, but thanks for the help and all your replies.

Run one amp:

Two 2-Ohm subs will be 2- or 8-Ohms (Example: 4000 Watts x 1 @ 2-Ohms)

Two 4-Ohm subs will be 1- or 4-Ohms (Example: 4000 Watts x 1 @ 1-Ohms) Hifonics XXV Cyclops

Or you can run two amps where:

One 2-ohm sub will be 1- or 4-Ohms (Example: 2000 Watts x 1 @ 1-Ohms)

One 4-ohm sub will be 2- or 8-Ohms (Example: 2000 Watts x 1 @ 2-Ohms)
