Dual 2 ohm in series=8 ohm at terminal?

Pulled the sub I bought out of its box today and figured it was a D4 since it measured 8 ohms at the terminal. Well as the title says it clearly states it is a D2. Does this mean I have a bad VC have not yet grabbed the DMM to test each coil, it's in the car and wife has the car. Have tested the sub and didn't notice any problems with it. This is the sub: Arc Audio.

Thanks for any help.

it could be the terminal...ive seen some funky things on terminal readings....hooked a pair of my friends dual 3 3hp 12's the other day and the subs were reading .8ohm....but at the terminal cup it was reading 149ohms
