Dual 1ohm vs Dual 2ohm

Other than the resistance difference? Well a d1 coil will usually have a fatter coil and more bl product. In my dual .7 and dual 1.4 flatwould aluminum coils the .7 will handle more power.

But in the FI sub's case I believe he machines them differently depending on coil choice so this may not be the case.

It depends on what you need your final load for the amp to see. A single Dual 1 can be wired in series to 2 ohms, and if you have a pair of Dual 1's wired in series then the amp will see 1 ohm load. If you have dual 2 it will be 1 ohm in paralell, or 4 ohms in series. A pair of dual 2's will show 2 ohm final.

Its all on the wiring you want....

D1....parallel final load is 1/2 ohm, in series its 2 ohms, per sub.

D2....parallel final load is 1 ohm, in series its 4 ohms, per sub.

But, with more than 1 sub, theres series-parallel wiring too.

I have a Hifonics 2000 watt amp. I used too have two type r's (4ohm versions). I would want it to go down to 1 ohm for "max" power right? I understand 1/2 ohm is not recommended. If i had two fi q's i would want the Dual 2 versions to get down to one ohm right?

But this says D1 is either .5 ohm or 2 ohm ?

"D1....parallel final load is 1/2 ohm, in series its 2 ohms, per sub."
