As far as the review goes....all I can say is that I am thoroughly impressed, and they sound even better than I expected, especially since they're upfiring. I mostly listen to rap/hip-hop, and the low notes on Lil Jon/Mike Jones/Tech N9ne/etc. songs are simply amazing, but the sub is still able to keep up great output up to 80 Hz. I'll have to get it metered sometime, but for daily listening, I have the sub volume on +8 out of 15 on my Alpine deck, gain less than half, and it's still loud as ****. Definitely worth the upgrade over my 12" XXX (not to say 2 15" XXX's wouldn't be just as badass), but for the price, I don't think there's a sub out there that can beat the value of the Avalanches.

Nope....haven't noticed any yet. There's about 4" of clearance.

Yeah, sealed in a 3.8 cubic foot box (after displacement). Amp is a Tsunami db1800t.

you will want to increase the sub to +15 on the Alpine 9833 to get 4 volt. Just turn down the gain and then up the sub level and adjust the gain correctly.

What size box is that for the AVA's. it looks huge? I tought they worked well in smaller sealed boxes?

The gains were adjusted with the sub level at +15, I just lowered it to +8 afterward.
