Drunk Driving Is So Stupid!!!

Just got out of the hospital after spending 4 days there. I was out for a ride with my dad and brother on Thursday evening, around the same time some selfish, idiotic sob decided to get behind the wheel after drinking. Darshaun, is his name, was cutting through the Taco Bell (N 26Th. and Pearl if you know the area) parking lot and sped out of the driveway to the main road and slammed into me and my bike. Fortunately my pops and brother didnt get it, but me and my motorcycle are pretty effed up. Darshaun, the idiot, had no insurance so I get to absorb all of this financially, and I'm already a struggling single dad as it is. As you can imagine I am extremely pissed off, but I am thankful that I will still be around for my daughter for a while. And, I am so grateful my sister is gonna stay at my house for a while and help out with my daughter's daily needs, and make sure she gets to her therapy appointments and whatnot. I will have to struggle for a while, but at least I gat to live another day and there is one more drunk off the streets.

Oh and the douchebag that hit me didnt get a scratch, but I suppose he will be in jail for a while.

So, I spent close to 5 and a half hours in surgery, I was given some donor blood but I dont remember how much she said it was. My right leg is broken in 7 places(including 3 right below the knee where it was pretty mangled. My right foot was broken in a few spots as well. Oh, and my left elbow was pretty scraped up but not broken or anything. Doctor said there is close to 7 pounds of metal and hardware in me now, he is gonna give me some cool xray pics next time I see him. Here are a couple pics I snapped with my cell phone when they were changing the dressing the day before yesterday, and the one of my foot that the nurse let me snap a pic of.....LOL I thought the screws looked pretty wicked.

***WARNING*** Do NOT scroll down if you have a weak stomache or if the sight of blood grosses you out.

I hate to see these situations. If you are in need of help, there should be some assistance groups that help situations just like this. I know it is a long shot, but a joint lawsuit with your insurance company would be a good idea.

I am glad to see you are ok though, all be it a bit banged up.

I think about things like this every time I go out for a ride. I have such passion for riding, but at the same time my 10 year old(b-day is today) is waiting at home for me. So I ride much less then I used to now. Closer every day to just selling off all my bikes. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

It's a $10,000 fine for driving w/o insureance...and I think if you do that drunk ur entitled to some jail time... u find out what happened to the guy? Also, I used to drive a bike when I was younger some idiot almost hit me, I layed the bike down, got road rash, and ended up rolling under another vehicle. Scared me enough to say yeah bikes are really fun and all, but they don't protect you from the idiots out there, you can be as defensive and alert as you want chances are some fker thats drinking and driving, or not paying attention and texting is going to run into you. How accidents does the typical person get into in a life time? Those accidents become life threatening when riding a bike....I love bikes they are cool and fun, but I will never drive one again.

You should still be covered if you got insurance. I got in a wreck with somebody who had no insurance and my stuff still got all paid for.
Not necessarily. I know with Geico I have to add uninsured/under insured coverage. Which I do. Just in case. Times are tough all over so you never know who may have missed an insurance payment. Also, get glass coverage. It pays for itself depending on where you live.

Yeah it will depend on your coverage. I have full coverage + gap insurance with USAA so if my **** gets totaled, they will pay for the value of the car + the extra amount that is owed on the loan. If it's my fault though, I think i have to pay like a $500 deductible or something.

Another reason to carry no insurance/under insured policy. Some bitch hit my GTO before I deployed. She was coming out of her apartment complex and decided to get all the way into the far f'n lane....4 lanes each way. I saw her but had no time to stop. Scrapped my rear quarterpanel. Not insured, but my coverage covered it. Go after that mother for as much as you can.
