those 2 words dont belong in the same sentence together.
I disagree. It would depend on the drug in question, obviously. I don't think an argument for "responsible" cocaine or heroin use is going to be believed by many people //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Do you drink coffee? Caffeine's a drug, but I don't see everyone drinking 10 cups a day.

Drink socially? We're not all alcoholics...apparently some of us have figured out how to drink without going into excess. There are people that know themselves well enough not to drink, sure...but it's a choice they make for themselves.

I think it's possible to smoke marijuana responsibily, the same way you'd drink booze...not in excess, and in this country in the safety of your own home. I really don't see how you can tell me that smoking a bowl in my own living room is far more destructive to a sense of morality than drinking a few Crown & cokes in my house. If I smoke twice a month in the safety of someone's home, am I being reckless and irresponsible?

I believe an "all or nothing" philosophy is incredibly dangerous, and I'd like to think as a society we have more restraint and common sense than to not be trusted at all.

im with jim

oh except that in goddy's eyes i am a irresponsible because i smoke pot everyday instead of twice a month. Cept the difference is that i am responsible enough to not get hi at work and keep it for when i am home/socially.

ok so my mom taking perscription vicodin everyday because of her syatic nerve(sp?) makes her a druggy? Ok then lol, just because it is a drug or illegal doesnt make it wrong, it's original form was a god given plant, and there is nothing wrong with someone experimenting with what was given to us.
i think he is saying that taking drugs strictly for recreational purposes is irresponsible. He is totally right. You mom (i assume) takes drugs for therapeutic medical reasons. There is a huge difference. One is responsible and one isn't.

i think the it boils down to this. Do you think that its responsible to take a substance that is potentially dangerous to you on many levels, just for fun? I dont..have i done it? A billion times..was it fun...many times it was..but i wouldn't call it responsible.

Mediating risks, and informed usage dont equate to actually doing the responsible thing.

Although I'll skip the "God given" phrase...nightshade is a naturally occuring plant, and so is hemlock. Is it right or wrong to eat those? You decide //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I don't know off-hand the statistics for how much THC specifically makes you impaired to do a certain job. But I know if you're a machine operator, driver of something, or any job that requires a certain amount of safety or precision, then it would be irresponsible //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Furthermore, once you're employed for someone else you're under their rules. If they require a drug-free workplace, than that's that. If you want to smoke daily without consequences, quit.

I'm not sure if daily marijuana use is responsible or not, I don't know off-hand the statistics for how much THC specifically makes you impaired to do a certain job. im sorry i dunno what these plants are lol, i know what the cannabis plant is tho //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif THC doesnt really impair you per say. Atleast thats what i say cause i do daily tasks/ chores after smoking with no problem whatsoever. And the shi ti smoke has alot of THC if you know what i mean //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Yea ill skip the god given too cause im not relaly into that stuff just thought it sounded good.

dam you jimj dont take on the easy ones, argue against me!
OK...

I think your point about "potentially dangerous" can be interpreted different ways. Alcohol has the potential to be pretty dangerous if I chug liquor and decide to drive home. Marijuana can be pretty dangerous if I smoke a lot before work, and my work happens to be maintaining a nuclear reactor. I know these are extreme cases, but I'm not convinced that in moderation, weed is any more dangerous than alcohol. Both impair judgement, and should only be consumed when your safety and the safety of others isn't compromised. And you aren't at work, or some place where your time doesn't technically belong to you.

I can't speak personally for other drugs because I have no desire to use them, but my sense would be no, there is no such thing as responsible heroin or crack use. It's just too dangerous.

If you don't think THC impairs your functioning abilities, would you feel safe getting on a plane where the pilots just finished smoking a huge blunt before taxiing out to the runway?
sure, cause he has a co pilot to take care of everything //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif plus the plane flies itself once lifted off. But i would say that is a huge difference between me driving a car and someone flying a huge 737 orsomething.

Even if the plane can fly itself for the entire flight (which may be true, depending on the aircraft), would you trust the lives of 100+ people to an autopilot? What if it fails? If you think the autopilot defense is a good one, just ask these guys: http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=830723

I guess i still just think its irresponsible to take any substance (weed, beer, anything) if they are potentially dangerous. No morality judgments on my part, but i dint think ingesting intoxicants solely for recreational purposes is ever the responsible choice.
