those 2 words dont belong in the same sentence together.

there is such a thing as responsible drug use. you may think that using a drug is irresponsible to begin with, and that is partially true, i agree there, but not every one is an irresponsible druggie teenager.

me and a few close friends of mine do ocasionally experiment with drugs, i dont mind admitting that, but i bet its not what you think. i have NEVER done a drug on impulse just because it was there. when i am trying somehting new i make sure to take every precaution, and i make it a safe environment. usualy there are one or 2 babysitters in the room to make sure nothing goes wrong. I read up on the drug. peoples experiences both good and bad, harmfull effects on your health and dosage.

i also have a few rules i follow when it comes to drugs:

1 - Never take somehting that came from an un verified source. the reason i have never tried LSD is because i dont want to end up dead because i got it from a stranger. ill wait for the right moment some day when i know its safe. This is also the reason i hate my buddy taking X. i read that 60% of the time the 'X' you buy is not MDMA, and he could die taking something other than what he is used to. That is irresponsibe.

2 - Ill never take a drug that is highly addictive. people find it odd that ill try new drugs and at 18 i still havent even puffed a cigarette before. i dont need new addictions, even one as common as nicotine. I wont ever do coke, crack, X, heroine and a few other drugs because i know how common it is to become addicted.

3 - never go in public or drive while taking drugs. Taking drugs in public and putting yourself in danger by driving brings a lot of negative attention to whatever drug your on, not to mention driving could kill innocent people. when me and my friends experiment we pick a house and stay there, especially the first time. i always enjoy sitting around with a few friends more than parties anyways.

there are lots of stupid people out there, but i am not one of them. call me stupid for trying things out in the first place, but you cannot say that how i go about doing them is irresponsible.

No morality judgments on my part, but i dint think ingesting intoxicants solely for recreational purposes is ever the responsible choice.
some people take drugs more 'recreationally' than others though, so again, thats not right 100% of the time.

i agree that someone taking somehting to feel high and laugh for a little bit can be irresponsible. its, as my dad would say, 'mental-************.' just doing things to feel good and not taking anything else into consideration.

not that im a saint or anything, i do stupid things every once and a while, but lately i have moved away from the "i wanna feel funny for a few hrs" drugs. i think drugs should be used in the way they first were by the native indians in mexico and elsewhere in the world. in their cultures, taking something like peyote is sacred. it allows you to see into another world. to me, there is nothing irresponsible about that. some drugs are a form of meditation.

i think that a drug like peyote taken by kids just to see shit is irresponsible. same thing with salvia. lately i have smoked a lot, but i dont do it just to feel funny. im exploring something new and different. Meanwhile some kids found out i have a bunch and go "oh cool, legal weed. give me some, i wanna see shit!." i would never give kids like this anything. its disrespectfull to the mazatecs that i got it from, and to people who dont just use it to party.

the type of drug use you are referring to, although suspect by the majority, is spiritual in nature and therefore i wouldn't consider it recreational. My point is that recreational drug use is irresponsible. Perhaps an argument can be made the drug use for spiritual purposes is the responsible choice provided that its framed in the right surroundings and context. However i doubt many people claiming this is the reason for using psychedelics would actually be using them in what i would consider appropriate settings. In the vast vast majority of cases using drugs recreationaly is not responsible. The risk management strategies you describe are certainly a good thing when you choose to be irresponsible and take drugs, but it does not equate to responsibility or ultimalty to making the most responsible option IMO. Risk avoidance, by not taking drugs > taking drugs using risk management

i get ya, i just think that something like smoking cigarettes or drinking is worse than what im doing. its not like i do this stuff all the time, i go through phases. some times i wont do it for half a year, then ill get the urge to try somehting out, then ill enjoy that for a month and slow back down.

the only drug i did often was weed, and thats why i quit over a year ago.

Edit: not to mention, i dont do drugs that are very risky. i wouldnt do a drug that could kill me after one experience. i wouldnt do a drug that could kill me period (well not easily anyways). thats why i reaserch everything before i even consider trying them.

Yup i smoke a few packs a day and drink coffee like water..not very responsible of me..but i dont delude myself by trying to justify my behavior to myself.. Knowing the diference between wright and wrong doesnt ensure that the right choice will be made.

what do people get out of smoking a cigg? i dont get it, ive tried several and never caught on. Do you get alittle high off of it or does it relieve you or what? Explain //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

well i may be ignoring the truth a bit, but i still dont think my actions are irresponsible. i do know that they are wrong, but not much more than smoking tobacco or drinking(did i mention i quit drinking too?). i mean, we all have our little addictions so i guess its not really fair to say one persons are worse than anothers.

OK...
I think your point about "potentially dangerous" can be interpreted different ways. Alcohol has the potential to be pretty dangerous if I chug liquor and decide to drive home. Marijuana can be pretty dangerous if I smoke a lot before work, and my work happens to be maintaining a nuclear reactor. I know these are extreme cases, but I'm not convinced that in moderation, weed is any more dangerous than alcohol. Both impair judgement, and should only be consumed when your safety and the safety of others isn't compromised. And you aren't at work, or some place where your time doesn't technically belong to you.

I can't speak personally for other drugs because I have no desire to use them, but my sense would be no, there is no such thing as responsible heroin or crack use. It's just too dangerous.
Both impair judgement, but in different ways. I've smoked enough herb to have build a tolerance that I would say is pretty decent. I can smoke a bowl before class and actually do better, however, I couldn't take 5 shots to the dome, and do as well. Once you get to the point where you know you are an experienced marijuana smoker (notice different tastes, highs, etc.) you learn to function on the drug extremely well. You get past the "im so fuked up" phase, and are just calm and more focused on to what is grabbing your attention at the time. Yes, I agree that most people could not smoke as much as I do and still function, but I am saying that there are people out there that can. Not reffering to operating machinery, or in the work in general, but in other aspects of life, smoking can actually have a beneficial effect on people.

just cause the druggies dotn want to hear it doesnt mean im not allowed to post it. and no those words dont go together. responsiblity and drugs, dont work with each other.

So when your wife that takes prozac because she's so depressed that she married you, takes her pill, you wouldn't call that taking a drug?

But it's ok cause it's legal //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I bet if coke and heroin were legal Goddy would be speedballin every second of the day

its not fair to say one is better, but its not correct to say any of them are responcible.

You need a larger list //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif
agreed, haha. and i am not going to sift through this huge thread, but there is such a thing as responsible drug use. you would be surprised at the huge amount of people that do drugs that you might even work with.

there is responsible drug use, its called medical necessity. Taking drugs for fun is recreational and isn't responsible. You can learn as much as you want about them, and do many things to minimize the risk, but fundamentally its still dangerous and irresponsible. You are purposely ingesting substances for fun, knowing that negative consequences are possible. Choosing to take drugs for fun is irresponsible. Having said that a million times im done repeating myself, trying to tell your self that you use drugs responsibly is delusional. By telling yourself this, youre really just trying to rationalize your irresponsible choice to yourself.
