drilling copper bars

i got a copper bar that is 1/4" thick and i wanna drill some holes for it.

what kind of drill bit material is preferred when drilling out holes for copper?

hss = high speed steel will work just fine

I used whatever the cheapest drill bits wal-mart sold were and they worked fine for me

copper is a fairly soft metal...it drills easily....
