Working on system ideas for "winter car" 2007 Crown Vic P71 (Police Interceptor = cheap, black, & sinister)
I've got (2) JL 10W6's and am trying to decide on box design. Since I want to be able to use (most) of the trunk, I figure I can mount a decent size box on the "ledge" that is the top of the gas tank, under the package tray.
There's about 12"H x 48"W and a lot of depth available. Easiest would be a sealed box of about 2 Cu/ft, but I am intrigued by the claims for improved "coupling" , efficiency, and power handling available with a down-firing enclosure.
The only real info I've found is the Decware "Inverted Wedge" design:

Any thoughts on how this would work in the trunk?
I'm looking for Sound Quality, but I do like bass! I've still got a 10" Death Box I built in the mid '90's. It did a great job in a Pontiac Transport van, running off the sub channel of a Soundstream Ref 405s.
The 405s is now in the trunk of our 2005 GTO (which my wife seems to have appropriated as her daily driver) driven by an Alpine CD-9887 Head Unit and driving JL XR650 component speakers and (2) JL 10W1 subs in sealed boxes mounted in the rear quarters.
I'm thinking of another CDA-9887 (I like the sound I obtained with the Imprint Manager),and maybe picking up an old school SS Ref 705s for this install.
Any thoughts and ideas greatly appreciated!
