Don't use PAYPAL!

wow, sounds more like haters than anything else. what do you think merchant companies do? merchant companies charge you a monthly fee + user fee + control the money before you every get it + make you sign a 2-5 year contract + pay for equipment. paypal charges you a fee for the transaction and thats it. yeah it's higher than most merchant companies but if your not doing more than 1000 transaction a month paypal is cheaper. maybe you and all the others should learn more about doing credit/debit transaction before starting a rant about stuff you don't know about.

the only problem i have with them so far is if you sell something on ebay they are now holding your money until the item is delivered or the person leaves positive feedback so you have to come out your own pocket to pay for shipping,as a seller i hate it but as a buyer i love it,it makes those lazy sellers ship your item right away
the waiting period is annoying, but other than that i like paypal. for anyone who has ever filed a claim and been denied because the person took your money and closed his account you wouldnt mind so much over the wait period.

the last 3 times ive really needed the cash i just sent an email to the buyer asking them to leave me positive feedback so i could get the funds. every person did and i had the money within 24 hours.

thanks for trying to help tainted haha nah i just have to wait for your package to be delievered then the paypal rep guy said i can call and they will lift it then...now i HOPE that is all i have to do.

haha beats my paypal story. bascially, my account got tied up. i decided to just leave it. i wont use it. so i made antoher about two weeks ago. i had been using my dads account until then. so i sent the balance from my dfads to my new one. well, i cant use that money AT ALL until i add a credit card. but, my bank accoutn and credit cards are on those two accounts. and it cant be on two. so im ****ed until my dad comes back and lets me use a different one

i do 1000's of dollars per month as a wholesaler and i never have to wait. if you are a new paypal account holder you have to wait til you are verified to have immediate access to the funds or until they recieve the item or give positive feedback.

I recently just sold some fuses, anl fuse holders and 2 circuit breakers to someone on here and shipped the item the same day he paid using the money he paid me with to ship it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif but i have 3 verified bank and credit card accounts and i am a premium member so I dont have to wait for anything. and I always ship same day i recieve funds.

ive been using paypal for almost i say 4 years now and ive never had a problem

i only use my debit card for transactions, **** all that linking to my bankaccount bs and credit card mess..if u have a debit card, link that shit. i signed up for a rush card and never looked back

been problem free, only time i load money on there is when i have to pay for whatever i am buying, other than that 10bucks stays on there for monthly fees and other bs lol

I've never had any issues with paypal and have done countless deals through them. Even when i did have to file claims against people they worked things out in a proper fashion.

At this time there really isn't anything out there that is comparable with Paypal, there may be smaller companies offering similar services but eventually the same thing will happen to them. It's bound to run into sum kind of problems in the future. There are too many dishonest ppl out there trying to scam ppl out of money. And when the ppl that work for these companies are the ones to decide the outcomes of claims, it really makes it impossible for a rational outcome to occur.

My paypal account is 8 years or more old now.. since they first started. I am a premier member and have done I would guess over 10-15k in transactions over the years.. couple months ago I sold a new in box phone on ebay for 350 dollars or something like that and paypal was holding the money. I was not aware this was a new thing with paypal and called them, they went ahead and released the money right away thankfully. I will not ship an item period until I receive the money. Hope paypal does not do this again in the future. My account has a spotless history. I always ship fedex as I have a fedex account and update paypal will the tracking info

that aboutpaypal.org site seems to me just an advertisement to free-merchant. I would put a small wager on it that free-merchant either owns aboutpaypal or aboutpaypal is getting paid by them.

should start a thread to see how many people on this forum have gotten F-ed by paypal.. it would be interesting
It definately would be, but what some people consider being f*cked by paypal isn't really what they say. Alot of it just has to do with paypal's policies and possibly with the shady people that they deal with.

I havent read through all this, but just did a transaction on ebay, paid for with paypal (i sold the item) so the money is "PENDING" in my paypal account until i ship it i guess. or is it until the buyer receives the item? then will he have to release the money? not sure how that works.

cant someone do a "chargeback" or whatever? what if i ship the item and they do a chargeback? can they get their money back instantly and me get screwed?

it depends, i was told you will receive the money if 1 the buyer leaves you positive feedback or 2 the item is delivered but sometimes they make you wait until 3 days after the item is delivered it depends on what paypal rep you get luckey for me i just had to show the item was delivered and they released my money that day

I have $500 in my paypal account that paypal wont let me 1) remove because my removal limit from my account has been reached for this month, and 2) wont let me spend it because my spending limit on an unverified account has been reached. And my bank is being difficult in locating the data to verify. So yeah, in the mean time Paypal has $500 of MY money that THEY wont allow me to do ANYTHING with until this is all resolved. There has to be something illegal about not granting me access to money that I in fact own... right? Grrrr.

heh

I got screwed over back in 2006-2007 or so as a seller when I sold virtual items. Back then buyers would buy thousand dollars worth of stuff from me and then file a complaint to get their money back. They then would use the stuff they've just bought to resell to others (note: we four got scammed by the same person).

It was not just me who got screwed over by buyers from selling virtual items. Three other person I know got filed complaints. We all called in and demand justice but paypal sided with the buyers instead.

Until this day, I still use paypal just because it's convenient, but everytime I buy/sell, i'd always have to rethink twice.
