Does volume on the HU affect power consumption of an amp?

For example if my head unit is on 25 does it make my amps use any more power than if it's on 10? In other words, does the input level into my amp have effect on the amps power consumption, or does it use the same amount of power at any input level?

Is this a serious question?
If your amp is getting louder it is using more power to get there.
Well the signal being sent to the amp is actually what is getting "louder", so clearly the headunit draws more current as the volume turns up. My question was if the AMP's current draw from the battery remains consistent with all levels of input from the HU. It seems to me that it would.
