ive been searching all over for the past few days looking for a car. i looked up on ebay and came upon this. its a 1999 Firebird Formula ls1, with about 101k miles. i called and talked to the guy and it sounds legit, but i'm kinda uneasy about puchasing a car i haven't driven. he offered $7200 with shipping to me, but i'm uneasy. he has good feedback from all the other buyers. tell me what you think. should i get it or pass?

Ask if you could just cruise down there and pick the car up at the end of the auction, rather than making a DP on paypal, and pay in person.

Actually, if you actually check kbb, the private party resale value is only $7200, and that's in PERFECT condition. Good, which is what 99% used cars are, which includes great interior, great exterior, but stone chips, normal wear and tear, etc. is only $6,600.

AAAAAND, when buying a car that was once in florida, you have to keep in mind it could have water damage. Water's kind to paint and interiors, but it'll rust out the frame, and the insides of the doors/unpainted metal.

there are simply too many variables when buying a car....id say a test drive is essential to buying a car.
