does these tinsel leads look like they are broke, or about to break?

i sold some subs and can't rember what sundown sa tinsels look like. and i just wanted to make sure it was normal, or if i fvcked up somehow for i can pay to have it repaired for him.

Is that an easy fix? maybe a low temp soldering gun + 1 drop of solder?

IF you are dropping the solder on, you are doing it wrong. I would use an iron and not a gun. 35-45 watts. you have to heat up the surface you are soldering together in order for it to be a good joint. also cant move it while its cooling.

I agree though, solder would fix this. And I wasnt trying to be a ****, just informative.

They're probably crimped to the tinsel. I guess you could heat up the terminal and put some solder over the weak spot. They shouldn't be seeing a lot of stress there anyway.... how did it get that way?

I'd just try em out... you might be able to play them just fine that way. Recones on SAs are only like $40 if it does let go at some point

oh yeah, a recone will have new tinsels, spiders, cone, dustcap, and coil. I'd try them as is though. I don't think it will hurt anything

the metal where it rings to the terminal and you solder to the leadwire is very flexable. you could bend 50 times back and forth and not break it. they come bent like that from the factory....

I know it's supposed to be bent and I know you know what you're talking about but it looks like its cracked on the left side of the nut in the picture. Maybe its a drop of glue or an optical illusion //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

It looks good. Those ring terminals don't enough lateral pressure to cause a stress fracture.

I swear I thought they all looked like that. I thought they all looked bent like that. But if Volvo needs a reconstruction or sumthin I will pay for his shipping because they still have warranty
