i have a MB Quart DSC 1500.1D amp and the owners manual said that when you connect the rca's that you use just one of the two and use a splitter to plug into the amp(the connections on the amp are both black not red and white)

i had the amp tuned at the local shop and they said that it doesn't matter if you do it the way the manual said to do it and it would just make it louder to connect both the red and white to the two black rca inputs.

is this true? or should i do what the owners manual says to do?

thanks

No as the above poster said it's a mono signal.
Wow .......mono means one as in one output but it is mixed between both left and right signals and put out as a single signal if you have both left and right and only use one there will be either no left or right signal mixed into a single output that's why it's called mono but still needs both signals to be complete in it's sound

OP use both there is a big difference and only using one will not sound right the car audio shop guy is right.

yeah i was just going by the owners manual, fairly new to subs and amps, i've had low budget subs and amps for a long time, finally had the extra cash to get a real setup going.
