Does Box Shape Matter

so does box shape matter for a sealed enclosure?

i am running two type-r 10" in a sealed box. each box internal dimensions are:

6.7 H

10.5 W

16.1 L

(0.66 cu ft)

in the alpine manual, optimal specs for the external dimensions are:

11.5 x 11.5 x 12.75 and 0.65 cu ft gross internal vol

now it feels like my subs should be getting louder. i am wondering if my weird box design may be the issue.

the ones i took of my box are internal... the alpine manual specs are external.

so i guess my next question is.. how big of a difference does vented make over sealed in terms of sound levels.. is it night and day?

it can be very drastic...ported boxes are more efficient and GENERALLY get louder. Sealed boxes are much more forgiving to design and space errors
