I have video files on my computer that are really old, and the website that hosted them, and the media protection for them, has since gone out of business. What is the best way to get these files to open?

Yes, there is a way, I used to rent new movies and make copies years ago, before p2p and torrent sites.

Maybe easier to just grab a fresh copy.

but there was to programs, dvd ripper, and dvd shrink...

Again, this was a while ago, Im sure there is a simple one step program now.
