I am new to this forum and I have a few questions which I am sure are stupid, to people with such experience and knowledge, but please try to bare with me. I cannot find any answers searching.
I have a 97 dodge ram extended cab with the infinity system. I am wanting to upgrade some components. I would like to keep the head unit if possible, but I would like to replace the speakers and add a sub woofer. My understanding is that the speakers are 2 ohm, most replacement are 4 ohm. The 2 ohm factory speakers have an amp attached to the back.
I also understand that if I replace the speaker and not the head unit the sound will be less because it will take more power to get the same sound from the 4-ohm (twice the resistance).
My question is can I add a small amplifier to the inside of each door. The power is already there for an amplifier so it seams like it would not be to difficult. The factory speaker set-up is one tweeter and one 6x9 in the door and one 5 1/2 in the rear. Would this work? Thanks
