Do your musical tastes conflict with each other

I mainly listen to rap, metal, and punk. When I first installed my SE, the rap bass was loud, but nothing exceptional. But the rock bass was very nice. Drums hit hard and deep. And when the double kick blast beats came the sub never missed a beat. Well I realized with my eq flat my volume was maxing out at 23/62. So I decided to put all the eq settings way into the negatives and just turn up the volume. The rap bass got way louder, but now there is something missing from the rock. I guess I will have to play with it some more. Unfortunately new midbass is out of the question at the moment. Makes me wish I only listend to one genre.

The box is ported. The gain is about halfway with 2v preouts. The amp is a Kicker ZX750.1 so I am not too terribly overpowering the SE. But the sub wasn't the problem. Actually my other speakers were the problem. They would get real loud, but distort real quickly. In many instances they would drown out the sub. I guess the main issue was I couldn't turn the volume up enough to get the sub going. Turning down the eq settings allowed for me to turn up the volume more with less strain on the sub. I was surprised having everthing at 0 would be too much for my speakers. I really need new ones. As for whats missing, rock drums do not hit as hard and I do not think the sub handles the fast drum beats quite as well.
