I have flat feet and always had issues finding shoes that didn't hurt. And being a size 14W dramatically reduces my ability to find shoes. Chucks, as simple as they are, fit the bill perfectly, and because they're mostly canvas they allow your foot to shape the shoe more than the shoe shaping the foot. They're also really cheap and easy to clean when you get them dirty.

A lot of scene kids wear 'em, but I had the Chucks before the fad and I'll still have them after it.

Agreed. I've got 3 pairs, one all black with black star, pair of black and white, and a pair of blue and white.

As for the people saying they won't wear them because of the little goth/emo/punk kids wearing them, nice argument about why you shouldn't wear them. They are cheap, pretty comfortable, easy to clean, and last forever. I've had all 3 pairs of mine for 3+ years. The only other shoes I've had that long are my Hurley's, and they are more beat up than the Chucks are.
