If you don't it's basically ice and water shield that is put on a roof of a house before the actual shingles go on. It is used mostly in the east. We call it *****athane because it can be a ***** to work with. It's 1/8" thick rubber sheet that comes in a roll. One side is sticky so that it sticks to the plywood on the roof. So I am thinking of using this stuff in place of Dynamat (or the like) for sound deadening. Dynamat is expensive and this stuff isn't . Plus you could do two big cars with one roll if you wanted to. Any construction guys out there use this in their car? Opinions? Questions? Ideas?

Sounds just like Peel 'n Seel...which has a reputation for having a pretty low heat tolerance in warm climates. In CO, you shouldn't have as much of a problem as long as you really make sure to clean the door panels thoroughly and use a heat gun when applying it.

You talking about the tar paper stuff? Even though that's sticky it still has to be nailed down, I dunno how well it would stick by itsself. It's basically just tar impregnated felt type paper right?

Don't think so huh? It's not tarpaper Force. It's actually rubber. Tarpaper is just thick paper, like construction paper. Bitithane is actually thick and has some stickyness to it. But I am not sure how well it would hold a stick to the door. Rtillaree, why don't you think it would work well? What is the difference between it and Dynamat other than a couple hundred bucks?

for the same reason u mentioned, the adhesivness of it, might not hold...i mean if you wanna try it sure, im just not too sure if its got the same ability to deadend sound as a dynamate pad would...try it on a small 1/4 panel section or door panel, see if it works...u never know

If it turns out to not stick that well, just use it on your floorboard. It would sit horizontally there anyway so you shouldn't have any problems. Places it might fall off would be like the headliner, doors etc.
