Do fuses restrict?

A properly sized fuse doesn't restrict anything enough to be a problem, because of their lack of resistance. If our alternators & batteries were within a few inches of our amps, we wouldn't need such large wire because wire length increases resistance and it is resistance that causes voltage drop. Since fuses are so short, they have very, very low resistance and that's why they don't cause the problems you might think they would. Likewise, that's why they aren't any larger than they are.

As for your question, it's not possible to answer without knowing what your existing electrical load is and what size your current wire is. Also, what size is the current fuse and is the power wire CCA or OFC? Lastly, what amp will you be adding?
