Dmm help please

and I already searched btw no staight answers

so i got a dmm the other day from home depot. i found the speaker vc ohm knob setting that works. but am wondering what setting the dmm knob should be on for battery voltage read out, for setting amp gains, etc.

thanksksks

I set my voltages, ohms and amps all by ear. DMM's are overrated. If its not loud enough then i usually add a few ohms and that usually does the trick!

but by all means you are pretty much wasting your time using a DMM. just set everything by ear. go back to the sub while adjusting listen to it play, listen for distortion, listen for clipping. Just listening will tell you more than a DMM will. When you play music the voltage isnt going to be steady all the time anyway! then after you got everything like you want it then use a dmm and a clamp to see how much power your sending to the subs. But if you "ear" isnt a good "ear" then just use the DMM

Sorry but you just failed miserably at trying to be funny //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Don't listen to this...you are much better off using a DMM. It will be steady as long as your use a tone to set your gain, not music. You could use your ear if you have a good ear, but I trust a dmm more than I do my ear. Use it to send the RMS to your sub, assuming the amp is not overrated and can not push what it says.
