DLS vs. Dynaudio

Spot on accuracy and with authority.
Did the person that told you this actually ever even use/hear them ???
Alot, he use to work for a high end shop. Installed Esotar's in Aston Martins, Ferrari's, upper class Benz, etc. Another guy told me that Morel's are the same, if I look at the basket, coils, surround, etc. except for the Tweeter basket he said, I think?

The DLS Noblium tweeter plays way better off axis than the Dyn MD102. It also feel it's more detailed up top (say 10khz +) but that's probably due to it's off-axis effects, then huh? Hmmmm...

The rest of Dyn's speakers never did anything special for me personaly and you can find just as good peformance shopping at Parts Express. Course you'd have to run an active system which costs more time and money, but you also SAVE a lot of money not buying over-hyped and over-priced componenet sets either.

Nice thing about Dyn is that the do everything in-house which means their consistancy and relaiblity is very high. They seem kind of stuck on poly cones though for some reason, but that's probably because they get the most consistant results out of them. Hmmmmmm...........

I decided that i'm going to go with the Dynaudio Esotec 342 3way component set. I got quoted $1300 from a local dealer. Does that sound about right? I can't seem to find out how much MSRP is.

Also does anyone have the Dynaudio Esotar 1200 12" subwoofer?

How's the SQ on it?

Does it get loud?

I forgot how much i got quoted on that subwoofer, I think it was $1500?

I currently have the Hertz ML3000.

That Dynaudio sub is rated for 400W rms -- so be careful how much power you put on it.

But seriously dude, $1500 for that sub? I think that's a bit excessive -- I wouldn't buy it before having a listen to it in an actual car install (not a sound board).

Maybe it's excessive because you wouldn't want to go through 3 or 4 of them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Give that sub 800W RMS minimum, and you'll go through 3 or 4 Dyns too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I am curious the hear how the Dyn sub sounds though, I've read some really good things about it.

I gotta admit though, I am pretty dang happy with my Ultimo though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I will have to disagree with this. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Really? The sub can handle double it's rated RMS value that the manufacturer publishes? Is this overall with any type of music? Any volume level?

That's impressive. I don't doubt you -- but I do have to question the marketing guys at Dynaudio if this is true. I understand being safe, but cutting the RMS value in half of what it's actually capable of handling is also chasing away prospective customers.

Just my 2 cents.
