dizzy/seasick

i have never been that much of a basshead, the most output i have ever had was 2 10" subs on 400 watts each and it was pretty loud.

recently i decided to buy a single 15" sub to see what it could do. i have it in a small(1.6cuft) sealed box with a good amount of fiberglass fill running off 800 watts

i have only been running it a few days, but i have noticed if i play it loud for a little while(like 2 minutes), by the time i get out of the car i am a little dizzy and have kind of a seasick feeling

is this normal or am i just too old to handle this much bass?

sorry, i know it is a pretty dumb *** question, but i dont do car shows and prefer SQ to SPL. i basically bought the sub for headroom and the fact the builder is local and a good guy

just wanna make sure it is just me and not something crazy with my setup

ya, i had tubes in my ears as a kid and have had inner ear issues all my life so i think i may just be more prone to the bass effects on my inner ear

oddly i dont get seasick on boats though

I think bass has more of an effect on your body rather than your ear. It's the highs that mess your ears up.

I get that feeling too, when I had my old setups. Of course that was well into the 150 db range though, lol!

I went the opposite way you did. I had huge systems when I was younger and now I am more geared towards SQ.

I am definately about SQ, this sub is so much cleaner than the 10" bazooka tube I replaced it with.

Although the tube got **** loud for only being a single RE 10" in an RS10A tube with 400 watts, but I never got dizzy from it.

With my 2 old 15L7's I used to have on 2 kx1200.1's, I used to get all nauseated if I drove around with it cranked for more than 15 mins. My friends used to get the same thing after about 5 minutes. Hell, I even named it, and most of my school knew what "Bass poisoning" was by the time I graduated. Many had even felt the symptoms themselves... lol

**** I was stupid back then, and I'm suprised I still even have any hearing left.

Admittedly I get that too, but only if I play really loud for extended periods.

Haha, it isn't the bass that was hurting my ears, it was the massive amount of treble out of my components that I used to love.

I dont get sea sick. Usually if the system is too loud(ears popping or hurting), I turn it down.
