distortion..

My friend has 2 audibauhn alumq 12's ... we got new 4 guage wire to upgrade from the 8 guage and i wired the subs to a 1.5 ohm load instead of a 3. The amp is 2 ohm stable. Theres distortion comin from the subs now when there on and off? It didnt do it until we upgraded the wire? Any ideas?

sounds like maybe a bad ground wire, I would rewire the ground wire. Also check your rca's and make sure they are not crushed or damaged in any way. Try hooking up one sub and see if the problem still exists. Keep trying things and you will eventually find the problem.

i checked the rca's and made sure they werent loose from the cd player and amp they shouldnt be damaged cuz there the same ones as before, we just left them in. I thought about the ground but didnt have time to mess with it.. ill try the old wire and see how it goes

also hook up another brand of subs or wire them back to 3 ohms and see what happens. I once had a bad pair of rca's coming out of the HU so I used the rear instead of the front and it worked fine....... and it took forever for me to figure it out.
