Distance between sub and box back

This might be a stupid question but is there a minimum distance from the back of the box to the back of the sub magnet?

I'm putting a idmax 12 in a sealed box what is the minimum distance from the magnet to the box. This is going in a truck so I want to make the box as shallow as possible. Thanks.

Inch or so should be fine with a vented pole piece...

Having it the diameter of the pole vent away would be better, IMHO.

the pole vent is a small vent hole on the back plate of the sub,

if the vent is 2" in diameter then leave at least 2" from the back of the sub to the wall. anything else will start restricting the sub movement and maybe even cause the subwoofer to overheat since, some subs rely on the vent to to cool the voice coil enogh to handle the power they are rated at.
