is it safe to disconnect my power cable, but not REMOVE it from the car? of course i would heat chrink the ends and electrical tape over that. is it safe to say nothing will happen if i make sure nothing can come in contact with it? im looking to sell my gear (once again) possibly.

just wrap lots of electrical tape around the ends and make sure it stays clear of the battery

In the past, I just removed the fuse and taped the end with electrical tape. I didn't run into any problems.
