Discharging a capacitor

I sold my cap to a friend and wanted to mail it to him. It is still connected in my car, but my car hasn't been ran in a week or two, does it slowly discharge or do I need to take a resistor to it?

If I need a resistor, what size? how long does it need to be connected for?

I assume I connect it across the positive and negative?

just hook any 12 volt light up to it and when the light goes out it's all set...

don't worry it is already dead. the voltage will leak out in about 10 min
