Directv??

currently i have basic cable simply for the fact that i'm getting the internet cheap on a promotion. well that is gonna end soon, and i'm thinking of getting directv. i hear they broadcast in hd? i'd also have to get the sports package. now what i have heard is that the box they give you has your local channels so if i were to swap boxes with someone from a different area i would get there local channels? i'd like to do that cause i live to far away from detroit and would like those local channels so i'll never miss a game //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif any opinions on directv? anybody switch from cable to directv?

i used to get dtv free on a "special promotion" too lol...

but that depends on how far away you are, because local channels are only beamed to certain regions... ill see if i can find ya a map

i'm about 180 miles north of detroit so i doubt i could get those channels.

eh all i could find is old ones but as long as you aren't in the very NW corner of michigan you should be able to get them

are you talking lower or upper pennisula? i'm kina in the nw corner of the lower pennisula. where did you find these maps? directv.com?

not everything is broadcast in hd// generally locals and about 11 other channels and some sporting events. and swaping boxes with someone wouldnt do anything, its based on the zip code entered in the system and on your physical location.

hmmm my uncle has directv but he doesn't watch ****, atleast i don't think so. so i can take this card and put it in my box and get his local channels? the local channels up here really ****. if someone farts it's on the news. i wanna see murders and arson on the news

^^X2. I have Stars and Skinemax, A friend has HBO so we each have 1 of the others cards. Pretty simple to switch cards out from 1 room to the other depending on what we are watching and which room we are in.

actually the cards are linked to the boxes. which are linked to the acct. so you cant take a card from someone else and put it in your box and expect it to work. you'll probably get an ext 726 or ext 722 error message. you guys seem to forget i worked in the tech support dept for directv for over a year
