i have had this amp for a little while, got it for my girl and hooked her up a lil system in her neon for her. well for some reason or another after everything was installed when i went to turn the system on the amp went strait into protect. this was really odd to me because everything was installed perfectly.

ground was good. power. rca's ran right. subs correct ohm/wired correctly. no loose wires, all the connections were A1. i bought the amp bnib. decided to check the internals, nothing was burnt, but i did notice something that concerned me. a few of the "buss bars" (thats what i'll call them) touch at the ends, and a few other components looked to be very very close in proximity to other shit.

heres a pic of what i'm talking about. in the lower portion of the pic you should see how the ends of the bars touch.

also, here are more internal pics. judging by the pics, what would you say the build quality is? did i get a not so greatly assembled amp, maybe because they let the new guy at the factory fuxor up a bunch of shit?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^well do you think that maybe the buss bars touching could be the cause of the amp going into protect? does anyone have any helpful input on this? install was flawless, everything was triple checked.install done with 0 gauge, quality rca's, big 3 upgrade, and the ground is solid. did i end up with a dud amp here because the usual assembler at the factory let his half retarded cousin wong, the new guy at the factory, assemble a few units? also i would like to know peoples opinion's on the build quality of the internals. there has to be a knowledgable individual with some input on this. tried digging for info, all i could find was about a 20 of these that were offered up for sale on here, and some other useless threads concerning bass remotes,or wether they should go with this or a different 5 channel. with no real information on them other than output specs/features, no posts along the lines of performance, except the guy above who posted "oh yea its a great amp". anybody dealt with this amp and had good results? hopefully somebody can hook me up.

maybe i should try gapping the buss bars where they touch and see if that gets me anywhere? i would really like to get this hooked up and operating correctly. does anybody in here have a technical veiw on this, maybe someone with amp repair/ amp circuitry knowldge that can tell me their opinion on the matter at hand? shiiiiiit

53 veiws. is it that no one knows, or just isn't interested? surely some one must know something, or at the very least have an opinion on this matter???????????? wtf??????

cool. yes no wires were crossed everything is on point. everythings been looked over 8 times everything with the install is perfect. checked voltage and ground with my trusty fluke, all was good. only thing it could be was the amp, which led me to take a peek at the internals. thoughts?

ttt. i looked at the guts again. i noticed that 3 fets on the end, altho they have the heat sink compound and all that, there is no insulator strip like the rest of the fets have. also, i noticed that a buss bar that runs directly next to one of the torroids comes in direct contact with one of the copper strands (referring to the copper colored wire of the torroid) while 2 of the buss bars have what appears to be a small peice of insulator to keep them from contacting something, there is nothing to contact, almost seems like putting them where they are was pointless.

i'm really trying to understand the way the circuitry is because everything inside this amp seems as tho it defies the concept of a circuit, and basically what i mean by that is there are parts that touch and so forth, you would think that the circuit would be interrupted, for example, on the board where the buss bars are soldered in, appear to be 2 seperate parts of the circuit ran parrallell together, yet touch at the ends. also some of the solder joints look a little sloppy. i bought the amp bnib, everything was all sealed up, couldn't get any newer. i bought it last summer, put it up in the closet, and forgot about it untill i went to install it 2 weeks ago in my girls' neon. boom it goes right into protect. bullshit. i don't understand what it could be besides a faulty amplifier. i ran one of these in my old set up in my lincoln but sold it when i upgraded. i get the same amp and its a dud strait outta the box. i doubt i can get it replaced as i got it a good while ago + no receipt. man i just feel like takin a hammer to the ****er. i always thought directed had good amps. i knew i shoulda got that ****in 25 to life fosgate instead..........
