Differences in 360 elit and standard consoles?

What are the differences between xbox 360 elite models and the other, white models?

Its just the color and the goodies attached to it right? nothing internally is different?

Reason i ask is i have an elite with a toast graphics card, and my girlfriends brother has a standard console with a toast disc driver, and he just bought a new arcade. We wanted to frankenstein the two broken ones together, i just wanted to make sure that everything was compatible. I know there are some 360 guru's on here, so speak up!

everythings in black, comes with an HDMI cable, and has a 120GB Hard drive . other than that they are all on the same board and everything else..

My elite was a POS. I got the RROD, fixed it, then a few months later the graphics or something went out, the TV wont recognize the box, only plays sound, and resetting the video settings on the box did nothing. Tried different cables, everything.

ssooo, i figured i could just take the disc drive out and put it in my girlfriends bro's box, slap my 120gig harddrive on there, and call it a day. I'll probably paint the case themed to my university for Shits and giggles while im at it.

I'm thinking about grabbing a 20gb, or core/arcade unit of ebay for like 175 shipped. Then get a 3 year squaretrade warranty for like $10.

ehhhhhh just give him the hard drive..

i have an elite myself and i just install all my games to the drive.. that way new drive or old drive it doesn't matter, i don't have to hear it. i love the installing games to the drive.

all 360's are hit or miss. whether it's an elite or not. the latest board they use i have no clue about. i stopped getting too far into the 360 knowledge after the pheonix board.

There are different DVD drives in the Elites versus other models, HDMI outs, HDDs... not much else.

I know his has an HDMI out on it, and the only thing wrong with his is the eye for reading discs is messed up. We tried cleaning it and that was a no go, so we'll just scrap my elite and put all of its goodies + its disc drive into his extra box.
