Is there a difference between MDF and regular particle board? is one better for boxs? Just curious....

yes there is mdf resonates sound waves and stuff better than reg partical board i think the best imo is mdf and i've heard birch is good

denser and easier to work with, won't split as easy, etc... use MDF. All local building supply places should have it and it's not expensive.

I'd use MDF over particle board or plywood without question.

Anyone know how Trupan Ultralight does vs standard MDF?

wouldn't particle board crumble...craptastic wood.

Trupan is SOOOO much nicer to work with. Much less dust, cuts like butter, lighter, and very dense.

Last box I built was with Trupan. 8.5^3, and probably 50#'s lighter than an MDF box which was reason alone to try it.
