my 40A fuse just melted so i bought a package of 40A fuses and my amp still wasnt working but as i look at the fuses the shaping of the silver plates of the melted one is different shape than the new ones i bought... could this be that i bought the wrong type of fuses..the ones i bought were made by buss or could someone tell me where i can buy a fuse that works

the 40A worked before..its for my speaker amp mrv-f345...all of sudden it melted then i buy a different brand of fuses it still dont work...the silver plates on the new fuses are retangular shape and on the old one the ends are kind of curved

If the amp's fuse is a 40a slow blow and you put a 40a quick acting for your fuse line that is your problem //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Fuse to the wire's maximum capasity (not the amps) with a slow blow (or '12v' fuse rated at 36v) and if your amp overdraws it will blow its own fuse and not your inline fuse. The inline fuse is only there to protect the car, not the amp.

the fuse holder in the black thing... just take a look at the 8 gauge wire kit from monster thats what i used with a mrv-f345

ya the snap on cover...i bought a 40A fuse made by BUSS at advanced auto parts and it didnt put my music back on...is BUSS a bad name or should i goto autozone and buy fuses they sell?

Then something else is going on in your install.

Fuses are there to tell you something's going kaput. Check your wiring, make sure you don't have something grounding out, or a short where there shouldn't be one. If you read zero ohms between the positive terminal and the negative chassis, you have an issue.

I agree with JimJ... if your 40A fuse blew, something went wrong. If your replacement 40A fuses are going without even starting up your system, that something is _still_ wrong. If you are blowing fuses once in a while at max output, then your fuse is too small, but from what you're saying, you have a short to ground somewhere.

ok wait your fuse that is blowing is on your cable not your amp itself right? so what are the fuses on your amp(physically)? I have a feeling the load to your amp is higher than the fuse on your cable.
