difference between 6.5 & 5.25?

If the mounting depth is OK, you can usually fit a 6.5 in a 5.25 spot with a little know-how and MDF or fiberglass.

If it's in doors, some cars, like mine, had metal brackets that you could take off, mount the speaker in the bracket, and the mount the entire thing on the door. In that case, just fashion new brackets and it works perfect. Did for me. =)

Beaming has to do with degredation of off axis response.

Head to SIn and a couple of quick searches will tell You more. Pay attn to the posts by Wiggins.

id go about it with room considerations than anything else. if you can set up a 5.25" right it will outperform by a large margin a 6.5" slapped in the doors. ever go to elitecaraudio.com forums look for c music he had a car back in the day with a 4" (boston pro 4" component set) as his entire front stage and he beat up alot of guys with 6.5's and 8's lol. its all in how you set it up. he is an iasca judge now pretty cool guy. didnt sound like a 4" and in my truck im selling a 3 way comp set to go with 5.25"'s in my kicks because it leaves me more room to tune them in

Are there any pics of the install you know of? Trying to find some info on "c music"(?) ride?

can you guys explain this beaming thing a lil more it's really confusing?
It's basically exactly like Nick said. When the soundwave of the frequency is smaller than the size of the cone, the speaker's dispersion will narrow and the speaker will begin to "beam" (really poor off-axis response). Think of it like a flashlight, with it's focused beam of light. As you start to increase in frequency, a speakers dispersion will begin to narrow like the beam of a flashlight.

There is your non-technical definition //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

small drivers tend to have less of a beaming effect.

Thats the easiest way to explain it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif LOL
