whats the difference between a band pass box and ported box I have (2) JL audio 10" W3'S in a sealed box inside my 98 accord coupe but want it to hit harder and I was told to go with a band pass

how much for a good band pass box

bandpass will hit harder but be a "one note wonder" A ported box will be much better overall, but may not give you as much db increase as a bandpass box will.

If you know what you are doing it is possible to get a bandpass box to sound good. So you won't want to get a prefabed one, you will want to have one custom made for your subs. So if built right it will hit hard, be louder then a ported box, and still sound good, and they are realy not "one not wonders" if it's made right.

If you want it to sound good with minimal expense and fuss, a ported box will give you what you want. If you want to sacrifice the whole trunk of your car for maybe another dB with slightly lower sound quality and spend a fortune and a lot of time and energy to get it right, then you want a bandpass.

Except in some extreme circumstances where space is not an issue and power is, if you want loud MUSIC go with a ported enclosure. Those 10W3's will do well ported and the box will fit in your car. A good sounding bandpass for them will be a tight fit at best.
