Diesel batterys? killed my amp

Hey everyone i am a new diesel truck owner and i bought a 2002 chevy 2500 duramax and the stocker stereo just was not going to cut it. I decided to do a put in a dual flip out head unit, planet audio 2000 watt amp with a rockford fosgate capacitor hooked up to a 10 inch jl w7. A diesel truck has to batterys from the factory so i picked the easiest one i had access to which was the one on the driver side of the truck. After installing the system i was popping 100 amp fuses in my fuse block under the hood, so to solve this issue i went and got a 200 amp fuse block and after installing i turned the truck on and seen that everything had power etc...

well i go to turn the stereo up only to see my amp start smoking. Soon after the smoke cleared i tried it with out the capacitor and the amp came on no problem, but i have no power to subwoofer, i fear the worst that my amp is dead so i bought a jl 500/1 but have not hooked it up as i am afraid it will get killed to, any suggestions on what i could have hooked up wrong or done wrong?

unless youre running 18v+ in that truck the batts did nothing, it was either your install went bad because someone didnt know what there doing or you bought trash unknowingly

first amp was a pos. The cap is not needed. Use a dmm and see if the power wire has 12 volts on it at the amp. Make sure the ground is good, and make sure the new JL amp can handle the 1.5 ohm load of the w7.

btw, the first amp smoked probly cause it couldnt handle the 1.5 ohm load.

And put the 100 amp fuse back in.

The batteries had nothing to do with it. You will not need the cap, you already have two batteries from the factory. It sounds like you wired something up wrong.

make sure your power wire isnt grounding out, that cold be wire the 100a fuse kept blowing. what size wire are you using anyways? im gonna use 4ga. you shouldnt be using more than like 150a with 4ga
